iphone photos.

so i'm in the salt lake city airport, and i came across these little gems from my iphone.
admittedly, i had forgotten about a majority of these.
but you have to agree; they're awesome/hilarious.

proof that i did in fact see mr. zuckerberg. yeah, he's up there in that bright, blurry square. yep.

this crazy mars-like engineer lab in the engineer building on campus. just wait till i show you the one with the men in the white suits...

my cute puppy.
a girl exercising in high heels. IN HIGH HEELS. does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this?

lovin' las vegas.

what hidden gems do you come across on your phone?

why worry?

i think i have sneezed more times today than i've sneezed in total, in the last year.
and i spent eight months of last year with sinusitis.
i slept over ten hours, and i still fell asleep in a movie i was supposed to be watching for class.
i think it's safe to say that i've caught a cold.

i've caught a cold in one of the few busiest weeks of the semester.
i'm busy with work, busy with school, busy with... life.
BUT i'm already starting to feel better, after one day!
good news.
just a cold with all of this stress? after the past three years, this should be nothing! right?
it will all be okay.

as i've been finishing up some work tonight, i've been listening to some of my favorite jams.
namely, mr. lamontagne.

on a brighter note, i'm heading to arizona tomorrow!
and i've got lots of good things to share.
and i'm floored with all of the kind comments i've been receiving on the rockstar diaries' giveaway. thank you, thank you!

spring giveaway: featured.

giveaway2
exciting news, everyone!!
my little business is a featured giveaway today on miss naomi davis' popular blog, the rockstar diaries!
head over today to see what i'm giving away & to enter for a chance to win.
contest closes on april 1st.

thanks so much to all of my wonderful supporters & fans.

a night at the symphony.

this past weekend, i headed up to salt lake with some friends to attend the utah symphony.
it was excellent.
they played mostly mozart's music (and he's my favorite), so it worked out perfectly.
they played this and this and had an exquisite clarinet player who wowed us all with his skills (both musically and in the realm of dance...)
if you've got a decent symphony near you, i highly recommend checking it out for a culture-filled night.

did i mention that we were five of the thirty-five 25-and-under crowd?
nevertheless, i still felt cool.
thank you, sir wolfgang, for the fantastic evening.

mister zuckerberg comes to provo.

mark zuckerberg (yep, the co-founder of facebook) came to byu on friday to speak.
aaaand, it was pretty awesome.
he kept emphasizing the importance of being passionate about what you're doing,
which was really refreshing.
i feel like so many people these days fall into their careers/roles because of secondary incentives, not because they have a love for what they're doing.
but i look at my dad, who is continually inspired by his work, who reads books and learns on the side for his work because he actually likes it. loves it, in fact.
he's never just "going through the motions."
and so i have hope. that i can continue doing what i love, and that more people might do the same.
really, though, isn't it refreshing to see someone who's so obviously happy with their role in life? (whether it be student, accountant, mother, artist, doctor, teacher, etc.)

i think mr. zuckerberg summed it up when he said,
"people don't get put in roles, they create them for themselves."

do what you love.
love what you do.

on a more humorous note: what is mark going to do with ten sweatshirts from various utah colleges?
i'm sure he appreciated the gesture, but...really?

i love love.

it's days like today that make me remember why i feel so lucky to be a photographer.
and to have the opportunity to shoot weddings.
i am so fortunate to be doing something that i'm passionate about.
and to work with such kind people.
sometimes, i forget that the bride, groom, and family i'm working with aren't my best friends.
seriously, it's that fun to be with my clients.
i love capturing all of the happy, quiet little moments,
as well as the exuberant and silly moments.
i love taking pictures of the delicious-looking food (and wishing i could eat it),
and laughing with the fun families.
when it comes down to it, i really just enjoy seeing our capacity as humans to love.

spring break dreams.

sometimes, i just want to take a spring break from my own life.
oldtamarindo1
this week has been exceptionally hard.
the hardest of the semester... even more difficult than those gloomy weeks of tonsillectomy recovery.
and that's saying something.
it's right about now that i just want to escape from everything.
to take a break and fly off to my paradise with my family.
to take a hiatus (i wouldn't be opposed to a year-long hiatus...) to costa rica.

but i also know the importance of hard work.
how after that awful, terribly stressful and emotional week is over,
life will carry on.
and i will be happy.
the hard weeks teach us to appreciate the good.
and are crucial in accomplishing goals.

but maybe, just for a few minutes this weekend, i'll pretend i'm in costa rica, listening to this and this.
and all will be well.

i hope that you have a relaxing weekend.

the strip at night.

we spent our final night in vegas in the finest fashion.
after the game, we met up with lauren's family and ate at the rainforest cafe... that's when i ate half of a chicken.
we then hit the strip for the evening.
las vegas on a saturday night is quite the...cultural... experience.
we made some new "friends", saw a wedding or two, and went to serendipity 3 for their famous frozen hot chocolates and sundaes.
we even went to europe for a sec! (okay, maybe just to paris and venice...)
all i have to say about the evening is,

musings, or something of the like.

life can get pretty hectic.
and these past few weeks can certainly be classified as such.
but i've been pretty blessed with some good successes, so i can't complain too much.

i'm quite busy, but i want to share with you some things i'm loving right now:
-this hairstyle. if only i had long/thick enough hair for it...
-vegetables... and chicken. did i tell you i'm on my evil diet again?
-empowerment. and womanhood. empowering women. (thanks for sending this my way, mom!)
-being able to research franz liszt and the beatles for school. listen to this to have your mind blown.
-the little sparrows that were singing outside my apartment this morning. welcome, spring!
-the bridal shoot i shot this weekend. i can't show you until after the wedding on saturday, but really, get excited for the photos!
-modern family. i spent a hilarious saturday night/editing sesh with season one of this show. if you haven't seen it yet, watch it.
-my bed. speaking of which, it's time to sleep... goodnight, world!

how was your first day of spring?

post script: thanks so much for helping me with my bridal fair project... keep the votes coming!

i have known katie since i was twelve, so it was such an honor to be able to shoot her gorgeous winter wedding!
forrest & katie are such a darling couple... they were so easy to work with and were troopers in the cold.

i need a bit of advice.

so i'm doing a bridal fair... you know, taking my advertising in a bit of a different direction.
but, i need your help in being successful.
so if you could please imagine yourself as an engaged 20-something (maybe even 30-something) in provo and answer this question, i'd love you forever.

what question? you ask. it's right over here! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! in advance.

for japan, with love.

forjapanwithlove-
i'm joining in with a lot of the blogging world and being silent today.
may we all think about the gifts we're blessed with and pray for those suffering from disasters around the world,
if even just for a minute.

word on the street is...

even president o. is talking about him!
señor fredette kept it real in denver tonight and helped our cougs through the first round against the (woof woof) wofford terriers.
now all i want to know how to do is...
JIMMER

and pray he keeps on racking up the points!

me gusta march madness.

once upon a time...

i ate an entire chicken.
(well, half of one)
and then i ate many, many other things.

if you want to gain some weight, just head to las vegas.
i'm tellin' ya!
